Thanks to the team at http://www.ferrisconspiracy.com for highlighting all the Miscarriages of Justice Cases so far.  I have just visited Kevin's website and it has put me in a downer to say the least.  How a young healthy vibrant man can be treated in this unfair and ghastly manner is beyond me.  I think the fact alone that DC Spackman himself has been imprisoned due to criminal activity screams out that he is a liar and corrupt, therefore all cases that have been tried and found guilty under his supervision should be re-opened and assessed.  Anybody with half a brain in the crown office should realise this.  I have sent my support to Kevin and I really hope justice will prevail for him.  Lies are the source of all evil, grief, greed and corruptness.

Good point csweeney, Spackman could have been involved in sending many more innocent men behind bars. An investigation into all of Spackman's cases prior to his conviction would no doubt open a whole can of worms. Bilko

Yes Bilko,

I have done further research and it is known that the home office are planning on reviewing 22 cases that Spackman was involved with.  They should get their fingers out of their ar** and do something about it.  Absolutely disgraceful how they take these situations in their stride and try to ignore them hoping that they will fade away, well they better think otherwise because they better be ready for a big nip in the backside sooner or later.

22 cases concerning Ex-Detective Inspector Spackman under investigation.......Just as csweeney stated!! Bilko

The case of a man jailed for the murder of a businessman is under review after a senior detective involved in the inquiry was convicted of stealing from his police force, it emerged yesterday.

Kevin Lane, who has always denied murdering businessman Robert Magill, 44, is hoping that the jailing earlier this month of Chris Spackman, who was a detective inspector, will lead to his own acquittal.

His is one of more than 20 cases which Hertfordshire police, the crown prosecution service and the criminal cases review commission (CCRC) are investigating after the conviction of Spackman, who was said in court to have acted like a "seasoned fraudster".

Lane was convicted of shooting Magill as he walked his dog near his home in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, in October 1994. Magill was shot five times, twice in the head, at close range.

The police believed Lane, then 26, was a professional hitman paid up to £100,000 to murder Magill. Despite what prosecutors conceded was flimsy evidence, Lane was convicted during his second trial, the first jury having failed to agree on a verdict.

After the case Lane was dubbed "the executioner" by some newspapers and linked to other killings, including that of Charlie Wilson, the great train robber murdered on the Costa del Sol in 1990. One report claimed he had links with the Russian mafia.

After the murder of the television star, Jill Dando, it was claimed - falsely - that detectives went to him to ask whether her killing was the work of a hitman.

Lane, who is regarded by the Home Office as one of Britain's most dangerous men, has long claimed that Spackman, the officer in charge of his case, was determined to convict him at any cost.

Lane believes his name may have been given to the police by the "real" killer. He says his underworld connections and a criminal record allowed the police to fit a case around him.

In a letter seen by the Guardian and sent to the CCRC last month, Lane described Spackman - an ambitious detective sergeant at the time of the Magill murder - as a "corrupt officer, hell bent on forcing a conviction against me".

He said Spackman had told him in the past that he would "have me one day" and claimed the former policeman suppressed vital details which undermined the prosecution's case. He also alleged Spackman put undue pressure on his co-accused, Roger Vincent, who was acquitted of involvement in the murder.

The CCRC confirmed it was examining the Lane case. It could send the case back to the court of appeal. A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire police said 22 cases involving Spackman, who had been a policeman for 26 years, were being examined.

Spackman, 46, was jailed at the Old Bailey for plotting to steal £160,000 from Hertfordshire police, money which had been seized from criminals and was supposed to be used to fight crime.

The court was told how the married father-of-three had diverted money into the building society account of a woman he was besotted with.

He took the woman on a shopping spree in Harrods and on holiday in Mauritius, bought her a £18,000 VW Golf and a £7,000 beautician's course and helped set her up in business.

Crispin Aylett, prosecuting, said: "The lengths he went to, the lies he told and the documents that were forged would have been worthy of a seasoned fraudster."

Judge Brian Barker told Spackman, who admitted conspiracy to steal, theft and misconduct in office, that he was responsible for a "disgusting catalogue of crime and lies".

We work as a team when others are behind bars and silenced by the SYSTEM but be warned http://www.ferrisconspiracy will never stop in its pursuit of EXPOSING the corrupt practices of the POLICE who sent ALL the INNOCENTS to prison and Kevin Lane's case is only one of many!

Hi All... thanks for all your posts on the topic of 'Justice for Kevin Lane'.  There's not really much I can say in response to the posts, except perhaps that I am proud to be a part of the ferrisconspiracy.com team and  I believe that Bilko's previous post summed it up perfectly.

This post is for you KEVIN:

On June 17, 1966, two men entered the Lafayette Grill in Paterson, New Jersey, and shot four people, killing three. Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, a onetime contender for the middleweight boxing crown, and John Artis, an acquaintance of Carter's, were charged with the murders. In a highly publicized and racially loaded trial, the prosecution hinged its case upon the convoluted and contradictory testimonies of two lifelong criminals, and failed to present any definitive evidence of Carter and Artis's guilt. Nonetheless, both innocent men were sentenced to life in prison.

Hurricane is a detailed, inspiring account of Carter's 22-year effort to exonerate himself and regain his freedom. Upon incarceration, Carter refused to behave like a guilty man--by defying the rules: rejecting prison garb and keeping his jewelry, shunning prison food, and failing to see a parole officer. His defiance earned him cruel punishment, but he compelled the rigid, unforgiving system to come to terms, at least in certain instances. Though he began study of the law to issue his own appeals, he could not have won his freedom without the astonishing collective effort of others. After a 1974 front-page story in The New York Times revealed his plight, there followed an outpouring of public support that included celebrity endorsements from, among many others, Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, and Bob Dylan, who immortalized him in the famous song "Hurricane." Though all the publicity turned Carter into an icon for a time, ultimately it was the efforts of a group of enigmatic Canadians and a team of persistent lawyers that helped Carter achieve justice. He lost his family, his boxing career, and 22 years of his life, yet in the end, he refused to allow bitterness to consume him.

Why cant these facts/evidence not be shown in a tv programme for e.g. surely that would enrage the public and force the police to investigate it lawfully... very tragic case!

Unfortunately they have to seek legal advice from their lawyers with an assurance of what they BROADCAST (or indeed PRINT in the MEDIA) so that they will not be sued even though they would be reporting the FACTS!

FOR KEVIN LANE............

Charlene Sweeney
Hi Kevin, In my opinion ALL cases that have been tried and found guilty under this Spackmans supervision should be re-opened and re-assessed, his influences and lies that put you and probably many others behind bars has also resulted in the same scenario for himself - he should be getting a lot more than 4 years!. Stay strong and im sure Justice will prevail. Thoughts and prayers with you. Believe in yourself and you will do no wrong
