I presume that you have 20/20 vision when it comes to horrors like that with a pathetic column too.

Do you think she has a mirror in the house?

DEAR SUN OCTOBER 12, 2006

PAGE 57: (The page where you tell Scotland what you think)

It WAS very brave of Paul Ferris to go public and admit he beat his wife.

He is right in saying that no man should hit a woman and at least he walked away.

But why say it now, Mr Ferris I wonder if it's because you are trying to promote your new book.

L.SMITH

Glasgow

Dear L.SMITH,

It was indeed very brave of Paul Ferris to go public and admit something he need not have done.

I have been instructed by Mr Ferris to reply to your letter and clarify matters.

1. Paul did not use that issue to promote his book.

2. Paul has no control over serialisation by the SUN.

3. This is a very serious problem for women & men everywhere and Paul intended to highlight these issues to help others.

4. Paul does not need to promote his new book as it is the public at the end of the day who will decide to buy it or not.

5. You cant give credit to Paul one one hand then make unfounded comments that you know nothing of.

6. We all value freedom of speech and expression and you have a right to voice yours (as long as you know ALL the FACTS).

7. Final point: 'Thank you for taking the time to write a letter voicing your concerns.............................................. the more the better'.

Very well put Hammer6. Some people give their views on matters without first being in possession of the FULL details. It is apparent that L. Smith is one of these people. You did a fine job of correcting her on her assumption that Paul Ferris used the wife-beating incident in his book as a selling point. When in fact he had NO control over what parts of the book THE SUN chose to serialise.  Bilko

It is a shame that others do not do their homework first Bilko as it would be a helluva lot easier to make a valid point.

Especially in light of that letter now being of public record.

The clarification list came direct from Paul himself and could fully understand where L.SMITH was coming from.

Although as you know it could not be left at that due to the allegation of promoting anything for that matter on the back of DOMESTIC ABUSE.

hammers6.i can honestly say ill still buy the book.reason being the mans got the guts to expose police corruption not his disputes with hes wife.maybe its something he regretted doing and he had to get it of hes chest.lets all be honest here none of us agree with any kind of abuse physical or mental but weve all been through it in some way or another,i can stick my hand up and say yes ive been a victim of it when my husband was alive but that never made him a bad man.he was a fantastic father and fantastic husband we just clashed sometimes.i always tell people who come to me with this problem if you love someone enough and your not getting along set them free to live there life it seems that as the new book is due for release the media are spitting venim again.who cares what he has and aint done he knows whats right and wrong when it comes to police corruption and grasses and there aint many people out in this world today who can walk on the same side of the street as him where police corruption and grasses are concerned thats why i will always buy the books he writes no other reason.

There is no excuse for any domestic violence but sadly it happens Paul Ferris admitting to this should be seen as a good thing but as usual you will get people who dont understand his life, where he comes from and what was seen as "normal" for him. these are the people who only see whats been written about him and decide not to look at his point of view they dont see the bigger picture, and decide to mouth off only knowing one point of view as they say there is two sides to every story even if he had been promoting the book does this person who wrote in to the sun think it would stop people buying it? I dont think so there are too many who find his life interesting and who wants to see his point of view and most of all respect him for not keeping his mouth shut with regard to corruption.....so i hope he does well with his new book and pisses them off some more!

Can't really give much of an opinion on this until i've read his book.Though i'll say it has taken balls to make this public knowlege and he obviously has deep regret and is feeling bad and sorry for what he did, writing about it in his book i hope will be a part of the healing for both him and the person concerned. I look forward to reading the book...total peace n quiet...all the ma's booted to their rooms...awe hurry up n send's it will yous it's draggin in!!! ,xxxma

hi all, i think with paul going public with his story it will help other people deal and understand with this, well done to paul for having the guts to own up to this,it must have been hard for him to open up about his private life, when i was little i seen it happen to my mum, i can still remember it but i dont think of it now very much,it was all to common in them days to hear of it,but its takes a good man to admit that he was wrong,

I am sure that I speak for most and applaud Mr Ferris for bringing this topic out into the open for discussion.

My information is that it was included in the new book because it affects a far bigger audience than you think.

You only need to look at our own lives and that of others to see that life is indeed not a bed of roses.

By keeping it REAL we might not please everyone but it a massive step forward without hiding the FACTS.
