Bilko thinks the Moderators post above throws up some VERY interesting questions pertaining to this Bernard Docherty testimony among other things.
This is Bilko's look at that situation, just to throw it out there to the board, maybe others will have something to add, or a differing view from mine......It's all good. Debate and information are some of the things that will highlight our goals and keep the topic of CORRUPTION and how to end it, on the boil as it were.
In the dock we had one Paul John Ferris charged with the murder of Arthur "Fat Boy" Thompson. On one hand we had the crown painting a picture of Mr Ferris as being this lethal, calculating, mobster turned assassin, who was a very shrewed individual and a major player in the Glasgow crime scene. Sharp as the proverbial tack who counted many high level dangerous career criminals among his friends and associates.
Yet in the same breath the Crown Prosecution at the trial asked the jury to believe this same, calculating, shrewed, career criminal not only took a lowly heroin-addicted house-breaker into his confidence to discuss a planned murder, but also that this heroin dependant creature was asked to form part of a 'hit squad' with Mr Ferris? This defies all logic.
Of course Mr Docherty did state the above in his evidence at the trial, that is fact. With Mr Ferris's subsequent acquittal, it is obvious this creature Docherty's testimony did not fool anyone. Bilko feels the question now has to be asked why Docherty would stand up in a court of law and under oath lie so blatantly to a jury with this obviously concocted story concerning his meteoric rise up the underworld ladder, from loser heroin addicted petty house-breaker, to friend, confidant, and would be companion in murder to (in the words of the police) One of Glasgow's biggest gangland names Mr Paul Ferris all within a short spell of time?
Bilko's conclusion is that Docherty was in someway coerced into giving that evidence in court by the Crown Prosecution, after he had been briefed by officers of Strathclyde Police dept on what to say. Perhaps Docherty had some charges that he was told would 'disappear' if he told his pre-rehearsed tale in court, perhaps he was threatened that charges would be brought against him for anything the Police felt like charging him with if he didn't give this evidence? Bilko is only looking at possibilities here, I do not know what Strathclyde Police wielded over Docherty's head to give that false testimony, but something must have been offered.
No one can honestly believe this miscreant Docherty decided to fit-up Mr Ferris of his own accord, he would be neither so brave nor so stupid, other than that, he had no self promoting reason to fit him up. So who else other than Strathclyde Police would benefit from this malicious testimony of Docherty's? Who else would want Paul John Ferris out of the picture by any means necessary?
Arthur Thompson Sr.? A distinct possibility.....Arthur Thompson Sr AND Strathclyde Police?.......Even MORE of a possibility to Bilko's way of thinking at least.
The above mentioned scenario is only one of many discrepancies littered throughout the trial Of Mr Paul Ferris in an attempt to have him convicted. Paul Ferris himself has highlighted in his autobiographal book the Ferris Conspiracy the many dastardly dealings of Strathclydes finest.
Mr Ferris had himself asked for a PUBLIC ENQUIRY into the Police CORRUPTION as far back as June 1992 after he was exonerated of the charges.
No such PUBLIC ENQUIRY was forth coming, one can only wonder why? Surely a PUBLIC ENQUIRY in that instance would have helped clear the much maligned Strathclyde Police of much of the stench of CORRUPTION that surrounded them. It would be the perfect chance to exonerate them publicly just as Mr Ferris was exonerated at the trial.
Maybe....just maybe.... Some in high EXECUTIVE office felt that a PUBLIC ENQUIRY far from exonerating Strathclyde Police from the allegations of CORRUPTION levelled at them, would in fact ENDORSE the allegations and turn them into FACT for all to see PUBLICLY.
Shame on those who give shelter to CORRUPTION and the CORRUPT, those voted into office by the general public, to serve that same public honestly and without prejudice and who then defend and cover up ALL CORRUPT dealings and perpetrators of CORRUPT dealings. Shame on them.
Thankfully Mr Ferris was acquitted of the murder of Arthur 'Fat Boy' Thompson and justice was done despite the false testimonies and lies from those payed to SERVE and PROTECT and from creatures like Bernard Docherty and others.
The murder trial at the time it took place, was the longest running criminal trial ever in UK history. The cost to the tax payer was estimated at £4 million pounds sterling, over three hundred witnesses were cited to give evidence, some would say a PUBLIC ENQUIRY was in order on the basis of finding out why that £4 million pounds sterling and thousands of court hours were wasted on trying to convict a man on the basis of such nonsensical and CORRUPT evidence.
